When was the last time you did something for yourself without feeling guilty about it?

When was the last time you did something for yourself without feeling guilty about it?

For many of us, putting our own needs first can feel selfish.

We’ve been taught to be helpful.

To be available.

To put others first.

To keep giving, even when we’re running on empty.

But here’s the thing:

Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s essential. 🦋

Think about the oxygen mask demonstration on an airplane.

You’re instructed to put your own mask on first before helping someone else.

Why?

Because you can’t effectively help someone else if you’re not breathing yourself.

The same is true in life.

You can’t consistently do your best work, be fully present with your family, show up well in your relationships, or create meaningful change in the world if you’re constantly depleted.

Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean you don’t care about other people.

Sometimes, taking care of yourself is actually what allows you to care for others better.

So maybe it’s time to stop asking:

“Am I being selfish?”

And start asking:

“What do I need so that I can continue showing up as the person I want to be?”

You don’t need permission to rest.

You don’t need permission to set a boundary.

You don’t need permission to make yourself a priority.

Give yourself permission to take care of you. 💜

Because you can’t pour from an empty cup.

And if you’re trying to figure out how to give yourself more grace while still getting everything done, that’s exactly the kind of work I help women navigate.
