Being the watcher of your own thought patterns is the first step to changing your automatic belief pathways. Here is how to start:
1. Become aware of your thoughts.
Stand aside and be a compassionate observer without trying to change anything. Decide if what you are thinking is serving you. Consider other ways to think about the situation instead of what is currently there.
Become aware of what you are thinking as a bystander and weigh the possibility of alternatives.
2. Create a new thought.
Consider other perspectives with curiosity and create a new believable thought in your mind. Start to practice thinking it when your automatic negative thought pops in and watch yourself gradually generate a new result in your world.
Work on recognizing when your negative thought pops in, pause and intentionally elect to think your new thought, and see how much better you can feel.
You’ll find yourself showing up differently in the world.
