Anxiety is a feeling, a vibration that thrives on vagueness. 🥺

Anxiety itself is harmless, and it’s purpose is to cue us up for survival mode.

Our resistance and reaction to anxiety is what causes the problems. In caveman times, when humans felt anxiety, it meant danger. 🧟‍♂️🙅🏽‍♀️But, in modern day, it rarely means that we are in true danger.

Anxiety is an uncomfortable emotion that we can learn to handle by becoming comfortable with it and relaxing in it.

So how do we treat anxiety?

👩🏽‍⚕️Allow it. Get comfortable with it. Don’t resist or fight it. Notice what it feels like in your body. Let it be there. Give yourself 10 minutes to feel it, time to let it pass. Fighting it will only increase the emotions and sensations. The worst thing that can happen is a feeling, right?

How exactly do you do this?🤔

Recognize the anxiety when it pops up and then name it- out loud. Say to yourself, “I think I am feeling anxiety right now.” Become aware of what it feels like for you and acknowledge that you have anxiety coming in. Avoiding it and pretending it doesn’t exist only fuels it and makes it stronger. And the next thing you know you’ll be having a panic attack and shit’s hit the fan.

I remember the first time I realized I was feeling anxiety and was able to name it. And I am not an anxious person, so this was a game changer. I was able to identify the thought that was bringing it on, and then work from there to mitigate it.

My mind was blown. 🤯

Actively accepting anxiety does not mean you are giving up or giving in. It is the first step to learning how to accept and then control the discomfort.
