How is Coaching Different?

Many people don’t really know what coaching is, or how it differs from formal therapy. Let me help bring some clarity to this.

Therapy is useful in helping individuals who struggle to perform at their baseline by diagnosing a problem of dysfunction and implementing measures to allow the patient to reach a normal level of function.

Coaching goes on to the next step. This step helps individuals transform from being functional… to exceptional and to up-level how they are showing up in the world. With coaching, I encourage my clients to take the time to be more aware of what they are thinking, decide if their thoughts are serving them, and then make one-degree changes in how they think about things to help them reach a new end goal.
