Part of becoming a certified coach at Life Coach School is building awareness of our thoughts using a few key concepts:

🔹STORY vs. FACT- Facts are things that happen that are neutral until we have a thought about them.

🔹 THOUGHTS. Thoughts are sentences that run through our mind, and aren’t necessarily true. To tell a thought from a fact, see if there are any adjectives or descriptive words attached to the thought. If there are, then it’s just a thought.
Facts are simply circumstances. Nothing in life has any meaning until you have a thought about it. Once you have a thought about a circumstance, such as “this thing happened and it was terrible/wonderful” that’s when you start to determine how you’re going to feel.

🔹 FEELINGS. A lot of people have trouble distinguishing their thoughts from their feelings, which is to be expected. We live in a world that unfortunately doesn’t put a lot of time in teaching people about their feelings.

🔹 HOW YOU SHOW UP. Think about how your feelings lead to certain actions. Maybe you just spent half an hour doom scrolling and now you feel sad, so you open the freezer and get out a tub of ice cream to try and make yourself feel better. Feelings lead to an action, inaction, or a reaction, and those behaviors are what create your results.

🔹 RESULTS. Results are what make up your life based on the actions and inactions you take.
So, can you see how these are all linked?

Can you see how what you are thinking ultimately leads to the results you are creating for yourself?
Once you start paying attention to your thoughts, you can start to choose the results you create in your life. 💙

Recognizing that you have the power to choose your thoughts allows you to change how you feel about circumstances, which in turn leads to taking intentional action to create the kind of results you want. 💯
