Somewhere along the way, we may have learned that doing things for others should be the top priority… in the hopes of keeping them happy.

So we override our needs.

We say yes when we mean no.

We put ourselves last and call it love.

The delineating line can become blurred.

But let’s tell the truth:

It’s not selfless to abandon yourself.

It’s unsustainable.

Because when you constantly run on empty,

it doesn’t just affect you—

it shows up in how you speak, how you lead, how you love.

The impatience.

The resentment.

The quiet exhaustion you carry that no one else sees.

That’s not who you are.

That’s what happens when you’ve gone too long without honoring yourself.

Taking care of your needs isn’t selfish.

It’s responsibility.

It’s choosing to show up from fullness instead of depletion.

It’s deciding that your well-being matters, too.

And yes—sometimes that means disappointing others.

Sometimes it means choosing yourself first.

Not because you don’t care…

but because you finally do.

So ask yourself:

What would shift if I stopped making self-care mean something negative?

And what becomes possible when I allow myself to be fully supported—by me?

If you’re ready to do this work on a deeper level, I’d love to help you.
